The Stephen King Online Bookstore
Bag of Bones.
Four years after the sudden death of his wife, forty-year-old bestselling novelist Mike Noonan is still grieving. Unable to write, and plagued by vivid nightmares set at the western Maine summerhouse he calls Sara Laughs, Mike reluctantly returns to the lakeside getaway. There, he finds his beloved Yankee town held in the grip of a powerful millionaire, Max Devore, whose vindictive purpose is to take his three-year-old granddaughter, Kyra, away from her widowed young mother, Mattie. As Mike is drawn into Mattie and Kyra's struggle, as he falls in love with both of them, he is also drawn into the mystery of Sara Laughs, now the site of ghostly visitations and escalating terrors. What are the forces that have been unleashed here-and what do they want of Mike Noonan? As in King's previous book, Wizard and Glass, the fabric of reality is thin, and nosy narrators are in peril of plunging right out of this world and into a rather hostile otherworld...

All I can say is this was a great literary novel! King fans who only like Horror might be let down, but anyone who reads King, likes history (or lived through the 60s), and LOVES characters that are SO real you feel like you know them, will enjoy this book! BTW, the first story (and the last one) are related to the Dark Tower and a Bachman book, although I won't say which Bachman book because it ruins part of the surprise!

En route to Lake Tahoe for a much anticipated vacation, the Carver family is arrested for blowing out all four tires on their camper. Collie Entragian is the arresting officer, the self-made sheriff of a town called Desperation, Nevada, and the quintessential bad cop. Unbeknownst to the Carvers, Entragian regularly sniffs out passerbys on this stretch of road, and in fact has done in nearly every resident of his hometown. He can also change form and summon the help of creepy creatures, including scorpions, snakes and spiders. Though the family seems doomed, an unlikely hero emerges --11-year-old David Carver--who finds his own way to get around the Law.
Desperation is the companion novel to King's The Regulators which was published simultaneously under the pseudonym Richard Bachman Forget the more-or-less literary novels of recent years, like Dolores Claiborne These books mark the return of the Stephen King of The Stand and Pet Sematary where King's main concerns where whether good could defeat evil and how much gore could be squeezed into (or out of) one book.

Wizard
and Glass, the fourth episode in King's white-hot Dark Tower series,
is a sci-fi/fantasy novel that contains a post-apocalyptic Western love story.
It begins with the series' star, world-weary Roland, and his world-hopping
posse (an ex-junkie, a child, a plucky woman in a wheelchair, and a talking
dog-like pet named Oy the Bumbler) trapped aboard a runaway train. The
train is a psychotic multiple personality that intends to commit suicide
with them at 800 m.p.h.--unless Roland and pals can outwit it in a riddling
contest...
